Pune Metro has achieved an important milestone, recording a ridership of over 43 lakh commuters in February 2025.

This surge underscores the metro’s increasing importance in Pune’s public transportation system. Official data reveals that the metro has maintained strong ridership throughout 2025, with January 1 marking the highest single-day ridership at over 2.04 lakh passengers on New Year’s Day.

The Purple Line (Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate) recorded 1,02,738 riders, while the Aqua Line (Ramwadi to Vanaz) saw 1,02,175 passengers on the same day. The metro’s rising popularity reflects Pune’s shift towards more efficient and dependable public transport options.

In 2024, Pune Metro recorded a total ridership of 45.7 million, with October being the busiest month at 4.81 million passengers, followed by September with 4.62 million. Revenue figures also saw significant growth, with the metro generating ₹276.58 crore in 2024. October contributed the highest revenue at ₹7.52 crore, closely followed by September at ₹7.07 crore.

As Pune continues to grow, the metro is set to play an even more crucial role in the city’s urban mobility, with its steady rise in ridership highlighting its growing popularity as a preferred mode of transport.
