Pune: Blue Ridge Residents Unite Through Yoga for Health, Happiness, and Community Bonding

Pune: In the serene township of Blue Ridge, Hinjawadi, the “Hansi Khushi Yog Samuh (HKYS)” has been a beacon of health, happiness, and community spirit for the past decade. Founded by retired army officers Colonel BS Chauhan and Commander Chhabra, along with senior resident Pushpa Tai, the group has become a cornerstone of daily life for many residents.

Every morning at 7 AM, an average of 40 to 50 members gather to perform 46 different types of yoga exercises, specifically designed to cater to senior citizens. These sessions, which include Sukshma yoga, mantra chanting, and meditation, not only enhance physical fitness but also provide mental rejuvenation. Participants report relief from anxiety, depression, and other ailments, leaving them refreshed and energized for the day ahead.

What sets this group apart is its unique approach to leadership. There is no fixed instructor; instead, any participant can lead the exercises, fostering a sense of equality and shared responsibility. The sessions begin promptly and end with meditation, emphasizing both discipline and spiritual well-being.
Beyond yoga, the group has cultivated a strong sense of community. Birthdays, festivals, and the first day of every month are celebrated with small, joyful gatherings featuring sweets, songs, and fun games. International Yoga Day is observed with great enthusiasm, bringing together other yoga groups in the township.

The “Hansi Khushi Yog Samuh (HKYS)” is more than just a fitness initiative; it’s a movement that strengthens bonds, promotes camaraderie, and supports residents in times of need. As Colonel Chauhan, Commander Chhabra and Pushpa Tai continue to inspire, the group’s journey of laughter, discipline, and togetherness shows no signs of slowing down.
