Pune, 25th February 2025: The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) are collaborating to construct a foot overbridge (FOB) connecting the Civil Court Metro Station and the upcoming Shivajinagar Metro Station. This initiative aligns with the expedited work on the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro corridor.

The Shivajinagar Metro Station, which will serve as the terminal stop for the Hinjewadi Metro Line, is located near Kamgar Putala, approximately 200 meters from the operational Civil Court Metro Station. Since the Shivajinagar station is being developed by PMRDA, preliminary discussions between Maha Metro and PMRDA have commenced to finalize the design and placement of the FOB.

A senior Maha Metro official stated, “The foot overbridge will enable seamless transfers between the two Metro lines, significantly improving connectivity for commuters. The plan is to complete the FOB alongside the station’s construction to ensure it is ready for public use when the new route becomes operational.” Officials have also confirmed that space constraints will not hinder the construction of the overbridge. “The Civil Court Metro Station is already a major transit hub, and there is sufficient space to accommodate increased foot traffic once the new Metro line is operational,” added another Maha Metro official.

In addition to the FOB, Maha Metro has initiated plans to allocate dedicated space for the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) to establish pick-up and drop-off bus stops at the Civil Court Metro Station. Currently, only a limited number of PMPML bus services operate from the station area. However, daily commuters have been advocating for more frequent bus routes connecting key areas to the Metro station.

“We are working closely with PMPML to improve last-mile connectivity for Metro passengers. The goal is to introduce additional bus routes that efficiently link major parts of the city with the Civil Court Metro Station,” the official explained.
