Pune: Power Cut Affects 1.42 Lakh Consumers in Mulshi and Hinjawadi Due to Pirangut-Kandalgaon Tower Line Fault

A minor fault in the 220 kV Pirangut-Kandalgaon extra-high-voltage tower line disrupted power supply to 14 substations, affecting 1.42 lakh consumers in Pune for approximately 35 minutes on Monday. The fault occurred at 11:50 AM, impacting the Bhare substation in Mulshi and 13 substations in Hinjawadi.
Around 97,000 consumers in areas such as Mulshi, Bhugaon, Bhukum, Pirangut, Paud, Male, Mutha Khore, Marunji, Jambhe, and Nerhe faced power cuts. Additionally, 45,000 consumers, including 200 high-voltage consumers in Hinjawadi, were also affected. The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and MahaTransco teams worked swiftly to restore power by 12:25 PM.
In a separate development, MSEDCL has established new branch offices in Dhanori and Lohegaon to improve power services for approximately 69,000 consumers. Rajendra Pawar, an engineer from the Pune circle, stated, “The rapid urbanization in Dhanori and Lohegaon necessitated this move. The new offices will ensure better quality power services with additional manpower.”
Authorities have assured that measures are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future and maintain uninterrupted power supply.
