The sudden jolts prompted people to rush out of their homes and residential complexes, seeking safety in open spaces. Social media was flooded with reactions, with many describing the experience as “terrifying” and “the scariest few minutes of their lives.” One user wrote, “This is the most insane earthquake I have felt in my life,” while another shared, “It felt like the bed was shaking violently, forcing us out of sleep.”
At the New Delhi Railway Station, passengers and vendors alike were caught off guard. “Everything was shaking,” said one passenger, while a vendor described how customers began screaming as the tremors intensified. Another passenger likened the experience to a high-speed train running underground.
Political leaders and authorities were quick to respond. Delhi Police urged residents to stay calm and dial 112 in case of emergencies, posting, “We hope you all are safe, Delhi!” BJP leader Tajinder Bagga and Congress leader Alka Lamba both took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the quake, while AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi expressed their prayers for everyone’s safety.
This incident comes just a month after tremors from a 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Nepal were felt across Delhi-NCR and northern India. While no damage or casualties have been reported so far, the intensity of the tremors has left residents shaken.
As the region recovers from the early morning scare, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. For now, the message is clear: stay alert and prepared for any unforeseen emergencies.
