Pune International Film Festival 2025 Set To Begin Today
The 23rd Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) 2025 is set to begin with an exciting inauguration ceremony on 13th February 2025 at 5:00 PM at Shri Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch, Swargate, Pune.
The event will be inaugurated by Ashish Shelar, the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra. This year’s festival will honor two legendary figures in Indian cinema: veteran actress Shubha Khote and acclaimed actor Anupam Kher, who will receive the prestigious ‘PIFF Distinguished Award’ for their outstanding contributions to the film industry. Additionally, renowned singer Kavita Krishnamurthy will be presented with the Music Director S. D. Burman Award for her remarkable achievements in music. Smt. Swati Mhase-Patil, Managing Director of Filmcity Mumbai, will grace the event as the chief guest.
The festival is a collaborative effort by the Pune Film Foundation, the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra, and Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, Mumbai. This year’s theme celebrates the birth centenary of the legendary showman Raj Kapoor, paying tribute to his enduring legacy in Indian cinema.
The opening ceremony will feature a captivating performance by renowned percussionist Vijay Chavan, followed by the screening of the Italian film ‘Gloria’, directed by Margherita Vicario, as the festival’s opening film.
From 13th to 20th February 2025, PIFF 2025 will showcase around 150 films from across the globe, including 14 films in the World Competition section and 7 films in the Marathi Competition section. Film enthusiasts can enjoy screenings at 11 screens across three prime locations in Pune: PVR Icon (6 screens) at Pavilion Mall on Senapati Bapat Road, Inox (3 screens) in the Camp Area, and Cinepolis Cinema (2 screens) at West End Mall in Aundh.
