Pune Metro has announced a very innovative and environment friendly initiative to introduce paid e-bikes at 10 key metro stations, aiming to enhance first and last-mile connectivity for commuters. This service, expected to launch in 1.5 to 2 months, will be available at stations on the Pune-Pimpri and Vanaz-Ramwadi routes, including PCMC, Sant Tukaram Nagar, Nashik Phata, Dapodi, Shivajinagar, Mandai, Swargate, Ruby Hall Clinic, Anand Nagar, and Vanaz.
In collaboration with T.S. Switch E-Ride Pvt Ltd, Pune Metro will deploy 50 e-bikes branded as ‘Switch E-Ride.’ Commuters can book these bikes via a mobile app or QR code and return them to the same station or a nearby docking center. The bikes, designed for convenience, have a maximum speed of 25 km/h, can carry two passengers (up to 150 kg), and offer a battery range of up to 80 km on a single charge. Battery swapping will take less than five minutes, ensuring minimal downtime.

The service will feature advanced functionalities such as real-time tracking, geo-fencing, keyless start, an SOS button for emergencies, and dedicated customer support. Users will need to complete KYC verification using a government-issued ID or address proof to access the service.
Proposed Rental Fees:
- ₹1.50 per minute
- ₹55 per hour
- ₹110 for 2 hours
- ₹165 for 3 hours
- ₹200 for 4 hours
- ₹305 for 6 hours
- ₹450 for 24 hours
Dedicated battery charging stations, including plug-in and swapping models, will be installed at metro stations for added convenience.
Hemant Sonawane, Director (Public Relations and Administration), stated that the service will provide seamless connectivity to educational institutions, corporate parks, IT hubs, SEZs, residential societies, and government offices. The initiative aligns with Pune Metro’s goal of becoming a more efficient and eco-friendly transportation system, especially after the recent inauguration of the underground corridor on September 29, 2024, which made the entire 33.2 km Phase 1 stretch operational.
With daily ridership reaching 1.6 lakh, this e-bike service is expected to further boost metro usage and provide a convenient, sustainable travel option for Pune’s commuters.
