In a decisive move to ensure fairness and transparency in board examinations, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed authorities to take strict action against mass copying during the upcoming 10th and 12th board exams. He has ordered the immediate and permanent cancellation of accreditation for exam centers where mass cheating is detected. Additionally, any teachers or staff found assisting students in unfair practices will face dismissal.
Exam Preparations Reviewed
During a high-level meeting attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, and Minister Uday Samant, officials reviewed the state’s readiness for conducting the board exams. Senior police officials, district collectors, and examination authorities were also part of the discussion.
Key Decisions for Preventing Malpractices
To curb cheating and ensure smooth conduct of the exams, several strict measures have been put in place:
- Strict Surveillance: Exam centers will be closely monitored, with police officials instructed to take necessary action against anyone involved in malpractices.
- Increased Security Measures: A security perimeter of 200 meters around exam centers will be strictly enforced, with unauthorized individuals prohibited from entering.
- Ban on Carrying Copying Materials: Students will not be allowed to bring any books, notes, or mobile phones inside the exam centers. Invigilators will be responsible for ensuring compliance.
- Confidentiality of Question Papers: To prevent leaks, the transportation and handling of question papers will be monitored with increased vigilance.
- Accountability of Exam Center Heads: District Collectors will oversee all exam-related activities, and exam center heads will be held responsible for any breaches.
- Digital Tracking: Question paper distribution and the answer sheet collection process will be monitored digitally to avoid discrepancies.
Strict Punishments for Malpractices
The Chief Minister emphasized that if any form of mass copying is found at a center, it will face severe repercussions, including losing its accreditation. He also warned that any teachers, supervisors, or officials caught helping students with unfair means will be dismissed from their duties.
Coordination Between Officials
All district authorities have been asked to ensure complete cooperation between exam center heads, police personnel, and district education officials to prevent any lapses. Additionally, municipal corporations and local authorities have been directed to assist in maintaining order during the exams.
With these measures in place, the Maharashtra government aims to uphold the integrity of the examination system and ensure a fair testing environment for all students.
