“The civic administration proposal was not to hike the property tax rates for 2025-26, which has been approved in the civic standing committee,” said Rajendra Bhosale, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, PMC.

PMC increased the property tax rate last time in 2015-16 by 10 per cent. The civic body will continue the discount of 5 or 10 per cent in tax for the properties implementing vermicomposting, and rainwater harvesting, among other environment-friendly measures.

It will also continue the discount scheme for one property of the wife or mother of a soldier who has died while serving the country, ex-servicemen of Defense forces or his wife or mother, and President’s award winners.

The civic body has made no changes in the entertainment tax levied on films, plays, circuses, music concerts, and wrestling events held within its jurisdiction.

The PMC has also launched a drive to recover dues of property tax defaulters by sealing properties and discontinuing water supply to them.
