The nursing pod, installed with the support of Social Thumb Foundation, aims to assist lactating mothers and caregivers traveling with infants. The facility was officially inaugurated on February 2, 2025, by Minister of State Meghna Deepak Sakore-Bordikar, who oversees Public Health, Family Welfare, Water Supply, Sanitation, Energy, Women & Child Development, and Public Works (Maharashtra State).

With a growing number of female commuters, Pune Metro recognizes the need for safe and private spaces for nursing mothers. This initiative ensures a hassle-free journey for mothers who often face difficulties finding suitable spaces to breastfeed or attend to their child’s needs. More such nursing pods are expected to be installed across various metro stations in the near future.
