Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yogana: How to benefit, who is eligible and where to apply
The Maharashtra government has made significant changes to the terms and conditions of the “Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana”(Chief Minister’s My Dear Sister Scheme). These changes make the application process and document submission easier. Let’s understand the details of this scheme.
To ensure more women benefit from this scheme, the government has revised the eligibility criteria and relaxed some conditions. Women who apply by August 31, 2024, will receive ₹1,500 per month starting from July 1, 2024.
Key Features of the Scheme:
- For women aged 21 to 65.
- Benefits for married, widowed, divorced, abandoned, and destitute women from all backgrounds.
- A budget of ₹46,000 crore has been allocated for this scheme.
Who is Eligible?
- Only women from Maharashtra can avail of the benefits.
- Women aged 21 to 65 are eligible.
- The annual family income must be less than ₹2.5 lakh.
- Women who pay income tax are not eligible.
- Women employed in government jobs cannot benefit from this scheme.
- Women receiving a stipend from other government schemes are also not eligible.
Who is Not Eligible?
- Families with a member who is an income taxpayer.
- Families with a member employed in permanent or contract government service.
- Families with a retired member receiving a pension.
- Families with a member working as a volunteer or employee through external agencies.
- Beneficiary women who receive more than ₹1,500 from other government schemes.
- Families with a current or former MP/MLA.
- Families with a member who is a board member of the central or state government.
- Families owning four-wheelers (excluding tractors).

Where to Apply?
- Rural women should register with the Gram Sevak or Anganwadi worker.
- Urban women should register with the Ward Officer.
