Mumbai: Traffic and parking advisory issued by Mumbai Police for Dussehra Melava at Shivaji Park

Mumbai, October 11, 2024: In anticipation of the Dussehra Melava event at Shivaji Park, Dadar (West), on October 12, 2024, the Mumbai Police have issued special traffic and parking arrangements to manage the anticipated large crowds. The arrangements will be effective from 9 a.m. to midnight on the day of the event, aiming to ease traffic flow on the Western Express Highway (WEH), Eastern Express Highway (EEH), and surrounding roads.

No Parking Zones

The following roads will have restricted parking:

  1. S.V.S Road (from Siddhivinayak Mandir Junction to Yes Bank)
  2. Keluskar Road (South and North), Dadar
  3. M.B. Raut Road (from its junction with S.V.S. Road, Dadar)
  4. Pandurang Naik Marg (M.B. Raut Road), Dadar
  5. Dadasaheb Rege Marg (from Senapati Bapat Statue to Gadkari Junction), Dadar
  6. Lt. Dilip Gupta Marg (from Shivaji Park Gate No. 4 to Shitaladevi Temple Junction)
  7. N.C. Kelkar Marg (from Gadkari Junction to Hanuman Temple Junction), Dadar
  8. L.J. Road, Rajabade junction to Gadkari junction

Road Closures and Alternative Routes

To facilitate traffic movement, the following roads will be closed for vehicles:

  1. S.V.S Road (from Siddhivinayak Mandir Junction to Kapad Bazar Junction, Mahim) – Alternative: Siddhivinayak Junction, S.K. Bole Road, Agar Bazar, Portuguese Church.
  2. Gokhale Road (No entry from Raja Bade Chowk Junction up to Keluskar Marg North) – Alternative: Raja Bade Junction, Gokhale Road, Steel Man Junction.
  3. Lt. Dilip Gupte Road (from its junction on Pandurang Naik Marg for southbound traffic) – Alternative: Raja Bade Junction towards L.J. Road.
  4. Bal Govindas Marg (from Padmabai Thakkar Marg Junction on Senapati Bapat Marg up to L.J. Marg) – Alternative: Manorama Nagarkar Marg.
  5. Dadasaheb Rege Road (from Senapati Bapat Statue to Gadkari Junction) – Alternative: L.J. Road, Gokhale Road, Ranade Road.

Designated Parking Arrangements

To ensure smooth parking, Mumbai Police have designated specific areas for buses and cars based on their arrival routes:

  • Buses: Kamgar Ground, Senapati Bapat Road; India Bulls Center, Elphinstone (W).
  • Cars: Kohinoor Square, Kohinoor Mill Compound, Dadar (W).

Eastern Suburbs (via EEH)

  • Buses: Five Gardens, Lady Jahangir Road, Matunga (E); Nathalal Parekh Marg, Matunga (E); R.A.K. Road, Wadala (W).

City and South Mumbai (via Veer Savarkar Road)

  • Buses: Alight at Ravindra Natya Mandir, with parking at Appasaheb Marathe Road, Prabhadevi.
  • Cars: Jupiter Mill Compound, Senapati Bapat Road, Elphinstone (W).

These measures aim to streamline traffic and parking for the thousands expected to attend the event. The Mumbai Police urge citizens to follow the directions and utilize the specified parking spaces to minimize congestion.
