Pune traffic is set to face major changes today due to the inauguration of the underground metro line between Shivajinagar Court and Swargate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the metro line through a televised event, with several VIPs attending the ceremony at Shri Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch.

In preparation, Pune’s traffic police have announced diversions in the central areas of Shivajinagar Court and Swargate, starting from 7 AM.

Amol Zende, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch), has urged motorists to plan their journeys accordingly, as significant traffic redirection is in place to accommodate the event. For today, no parking will be allowed on the route from Jedhe Chowk to Bajaj Putla Road, and two-way traffic will be implemented between these points as necessary. Additionally, vehicle access between these two locations will be restricted based on traffic requirements.

Alternative Routes for Motorists:

  • For Jedhe Chowk: Motorists heading to Jedhe Chowk should use Satara Road to Volga Chowk, turn right at Mitra Mandal Chowk, and take a right again at Savarkar Putla Chowk to their desired destination.
  • Jedhe Chowk Flyover: Vehicles coming from Satara Road can continue on the flyover towards Solapur Road.

Further restrictions include no parking for all vehicle types on both sides of the roads from Chhatrapati Shivaji Putla Chowk to Kamgar Putla Chowk and Tofkhana Chowk to Ranade Path between 7 AM and 4 PM. In emergencies, the road between Chhatrapati Shivaji Putla Chowk and Kamgar Putla Chowk will be open for dual traffic.

Motorists are advised to take alternative routes and stay informed about these traffic changes to avoid delays.
