Weather Forecast: IMD warns of heavy to very heavy rain in many states; check details
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from additional parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana as of 24th September 2024. Despite this retreat, several regions are expected to experience significant rainfall in the coming days due to prevailing weather systems.
Weather Forecast and Rainfall Warnings
South Peninsular India:
- Coastal Karnataka is expected to see isolated extremely heavy rainfall on 24th September, followed by heavy to very heavy rainfall on 25th.
- Kerala & Mahe are likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall on 24th, 25th, 29th, and 30th September.
- North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Telangana may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on 24th and 25th September.
West India:
- Konkan & Goa are forecasted to receive isolated extremely heavy rainfall from 24th to 26th September.
- Madhya Maharashtra is expected to experience isolated extremely heavy rainfall on 25th and 26th September.
- Gujarat Region will see isolated extremely heavy rainfall on 26th September, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected over the region from 24th to 28th September.
- Saurashtra & Kutch may also experience isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on 26th and 27th September.
Central India:
- Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on 24th and 25th September, with isolated heavy rainfall continuing from 24th to 27th September.
- Vidarbha may see heavy to very heavy rainfall on 25th September.
East & Northeast India:
- Assam & Meghalaya are expected to experience isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on 25th and 26th September.
- Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim may also see heavy rainfall during 24th to 27th September.
- Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura are forecasted to receive heavy rainfall between 25th and 28th September.
Monsoon Withdrawal
As the southwest monsoon continues to withdraw, it has already receded from parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana. The IMD’s forecasts suggest further withdrawal in the coming days.
