Pune to Get Two Vande Bharat Trains, Connecting Hubballi and Kolhapur, PM to Inaugurate Tomorrow
Pune is gearing up for the launch of not one but two Vande Bharat Express trains, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a virtual ceremony on Monday, coinciding with the Ganesh festival. These trains—Pune-Hubballi and Pune-Kolhapur—are part of Maharashtra’s latest Vande Bharat additions and are expected to bring significant relief to railway passengers across Western Maharashtra, particularly those traveling to Satara, Miraj, Sangli, and Kolhapur.
Union Minister Muralidhar Mohol shared his enthusiasm, noting that Pune receiving two Vande Bharat trains is a matter of pride and convenience for the city. “These trains will not only benefit Pune but also provide faster, more efficient transport for people across Western Maharashtra. The improved connectivity to key destinations like Hubballi and Kolhapur will strengthen communication and boost the region’s economy,” said Mohol.
Maharashtra will be receiving three new Vande Bharat Express trains, including Pune-Hubballi, Pune-Kolhapur, and Nagpur-Secunderabad. This launch will take the total number of Vande Bharat trains running in Maharashtra to eight.
Mohol further highlighted the ongoing railway development in the state, with projects worth ₹81,580 crore currently underway through the Ministry of Railways. Maharashtra will also receive ₹15,940 crore from this year’s Union Budget for additional railway upgrades. The state’s infrastructure continues to evolve, with 132 railway stations being upgraded to world standards.
The two new Vande Bharat Express trains from Pune will not only bring relief to commuters but also contribute to the broader development goals of the region by enhancing connectivity and spurring economic growth.
