Video: Drunk Driver Rams Truck Into Hotel After Being Denied Food in Pune
Pune, September 07, 2024: A shocking incident unfolded in Hingangaon near Pune on Friday night when a drunk truck driver, enraged after being denied food, repeatedly rammed his vehicle into a hotel. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Amitkumar Jokulal Patel from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, caused widespread damage to Hotel Gokul, located along the Pune–Solapur highway, about 145 kilometers from Pune city.
In a video captured by onlookers, Patel can be seen crashing his truck into the hotel building, smashing through the porch, decorations, and railings. He also hit a parked car. The situation escalated when Patel, who had stopped at the hotel for a meal, was denied service by the manager due to his intoxicated state.
According to Inspector Suryakant Kokane from Indapur police, Patel had parked his truck, loaded with steel, before attempting to enter the eatery. Mayur Dudhbhate, the hotel’s manager, noticed Patel was heavily intoxicated and refused to serve him, as the establishment was catering to families and had a strict no-alcohol policy. Despite Patel insisting he was hungry, Dudhbhate stood firm, which led Patel to threaten, “I’ll show you what I can do with my vehicle.”

Patel then drove his truck back onto the highway before returning to crash it into the hotel premises. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the customers and passersby, although there was considerable panic. Bystanders attempted to stop the driver by throwing stones at the truck, eventually halting the rampage when the truck’s wheels jammed.
Indapur police arrested Patel, who later admitted to consuming alcohol in Solapur before driving towards Pune. The police have launched an investigation into the matter following a formal complaint by Dudhbhate.
