Pune: Only Authorized Pass Holders to Get Toll Waiver During Ganesh Festival, Says NHAI
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has clarified that only vehicles with designated passes will receive toll waivers during the Ganesh festival. Despite the Maharashtra government’s announcement of toll-free travel for devotees heading to Konkan, NHAI stated that this exemption will only apply to those carrying authorized passes, effective from September 5 to 19.
The toll waiver will be available for Konkan-bound vehicles traveling on the Mumbai-Bengaluru and Mumbai-Goa national highways, as well as state highways. Vehicles without the designated passes will still be required to pay the toll during this period.
In a press release, NHAI emphasized that toll booths, including those at Khed Shivapur and Anewadi, have been instructed to follow this rule. The exemption applies only to vehicles holding passes issued by RTO officials and the traffic police department.
