Pune, August 17, 2024: Authorities have announced traffic restrictions on the Pune-Mumbai highway passing through the city. A high-profile state-level event will be held today at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex (Balewadi Stadium) to deposit funds from the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana 2024 into the bank accounts of selected beneficiary women.

To ensure efficient management of traffic during this event, changes have been implemented for movement of vehicles in the area by Pune City Police and Pimpri Chinchwad Police.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, along with several ministers, dignitaries, and private vehicles and buses totaling around 900, will attend the program, attracting a large crowd. To ensure smooth flow of traffic on the Mumbai-Bangalore highway, certain traffic modifications will be in effect from 6 am to 8 pm today.

Changes for heavy vehicles have been implemented as follows:

  • Heavy vehicles are banned from Chandni Chowk on the Mumbai-Bengaluru National Highway to Urse Toll Plaza on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
  • Heavy vehicles coming from Chakan to the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway via Pimpri Chinchwad are also restricted.
  • Heavy vehicles heading from Pune to Mumbai via the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway will be prohibited.
  • Heavy vehicles coming from Talegaon and Dehu Road towards the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway are banned.

However, emergency vehicles and vehicles carrying attendees for the event will be exempted from this restriction.

Changes made by Pune City Police:

  • Vehicles coming from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Chowk towards Radha Chowk via Baner must take a left from Ganraj Chowk towards the Kia Showroom Underpass or Nanaware Underpass.
  • Vehicles coming from the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway (Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass) towards Baner Road should take a left from Balewadi Jakat Naka and go through Balewadi High Street (BHS).
  • Vehicles heading to Hinjawadi, Wakad, and Lonavala from  Pune should take Pashan Road via Chandani Chowk or Aundh Road via University Chowk, instead of the usual Baner Road route.
  • Entry of heavy vehicles will be prohibited on Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk to Chandni Chowk-Pashan Road, University Chowk to Radha Chowk-Baner Road, and University Chowk to Rajiv Gandhi Bridge-Aundh Road for the entire day tomorrow.

Changes made near the Balewadi area:

  • Entry has been prohibited from Radha Chowk near the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi to the Mula River Bridge. Only vehicles attending the event will be allowed through this route.
  • As vehicles are being parked in Buntara Bhavan and surrounding areas in Balewadi, entry of heavy vehicles has been banned on the road leading to the parking area. Event vehicles and passenger buses will be allowed to use this route.
  • These changes will be in effect from 6 am to 8 pm today.

Citizens are requested to make a note of this and plan their travel accordingly.
