Pune: Heavy Rains Prompt Major Rescue Operations and Relief Measures
In response to severe rainfall affecting the Pune region, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed, and boats have been mobilized for rescue operations. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar are actively overseeing the situation. They have engaged in discussions with District Collectors, urging them to expedite relief efforts and ensure that necessary facilities are provided to affected citizens.
Additionally, PCMC has issued emergency contact numbers for residents to seek assistance.
Officials have reviewed the relief work in the Ekta Nagar area, and residents in low-lying areas are advised to move to safer locations. The District Collector has instructed that all offices and establishments in Pune city and the Pimpri Chinchwad area be closed due to the heavy rains.
In Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), eight boats and rescue teams have been deployed to assist with relief efforts. The District Collector has also issued instructions to provide food and drinking water to those stranded by the floods.
