Very heavy rain expected in Konkan, Goa, Kerala and parts of Karnataka, IMD sounds red alert
As the monsoon becomes active again, many parts of the country have been receiving heavy rainfall. IMD has forecast heavy, very heavy and extremely heavy rainfall in some parts of the peninsular India and the northeast.

Konkan and Goa – Konkan & Goa is very likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) to extremely heavy falls (>204.4 mm) on 22nd & 23rd June and likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) during 24th-26th June, 2024.
South Interior Karnataka – South Interior Karnataka is very likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) to extremely heavy falls (>204.4 mm) on 22nd & 23rd June and likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) during 24th-26th June, 2024.

Madhya Maharashtra – Madhya Maharashtra is very likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) on 22nd & 23rd June and likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) to extremely heavy falls (>204.4 mm) during 24th-26th June, 2024.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands – Andaman & Nicobar Islands is likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) on 24th & 25th June, 2024.
Rainfall in the past 24 hours
Konkan and Goa have received very heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours. Mandangad in Ratnagiri received 21 cm of rain. Chiplun received 16 cm of rain. A few places in Raigad district received 11-12 cm of rain during the same period.
It is also raining heavily in ghat areas around Pune. People going out are advised to take necessary precautions.
