Pune: PCMC Fire Department Issues Notice to Private Hospitals
Pune/PCMC: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has issued notices to private hospitals registered with the corporation under the Nursing Home Act in the twin city. The hospitals have been directed to submit documents related to fire safety compliance and a fire safety audit certificate to the fire brigade department within ten days, according to officials on Thursday.
Manoj Lonkar, deputy PCMC municipal commissioner, stated that private hospitals with one bed or more are required to install a fire fitting system. He noted that the fire safety audit certificates, issued by recognized private agencies, could potentially be influenced, reported Hindustan Times.
Pimpri-Chinchwad currently has 623 private hospitals and 1,456 clinics, but only hospitals have been served notices. The move comes in response to a recent fire incident at a hospital in Delhi, which resulted in seven fatalities and numerous injuries.
“After receiving the certificate and documents, PCMC fire brigade staff will visit every hospital to verify the information and check fire safety systems before issuing the fire non-objection certificate (NoC),” said Lonkar.
Officials outlined that hospitals must submit bills and photographs of fire safety systems, a certificate of daily maintenance of air conditioners, a fire safety audit certificate from a government-recognized fire license agency, and the names and contact information of members of the hospital fire safety committee.
