The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has begun re-inspecting properties that missed out on a 40% property tax rebate. This initiative targets 3.72 lakh citizens, primarily from newly constructed properties and merged villages, who could not avail of the concession till August 15 and submit necessary documents such as gas connection proof, Aadhar card, government documents, and society NOCs at citizens’ facility centres.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Prithviraj B P stated, “Many citizens missed the 40% concession scheme in property tax. Various organizations and political leaders urged the PMC to re-inspect these properties. Consequently, the PMC has undertaken this exercise, and citizens need to fill up the PT3 form and submit the required documents.”

The re-inspection will continue until August 15. Earlier inspections revealed that 96,122 properties were rented out and thus ineligible for the rebate. Following this, 198,296 new properties were registered with the tax department, and 168,771 properties from 23 merged villages also missed out on the rebate. In total, 463,189 properties did not receive the 40% rebate.

Last year, 90,749 citizens availed the rebate, while 372,440 remained outside the scheme.

Also, the deadline for property tax payment has now been extended to August 15, 2024, offering an exemption of 5 to 10 percent for early payment.
