Bengaluru’s Driverless Namma Metro Yellow Line Nears Launch as Signal Testing Phase Begins
The Namma Metro Yellow Line of Namma Metro, set to connect RV Road to Bommasandra, is nearing its commencement. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced the commencement of signaling system and integration testing on this line.
The first set of six coaches, imported from China and arriving in Bengaluru on February 20, is currently undergoing static and electrical circuit testing. A senior BMRCL official stated that the train will soon undergo mains examination.
The comprehensive testing process for the train includes 37 tests to ensure full integration with signaling, telecommunications, and power supply systems. Safety inspections by the Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) and the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) will be conducted before the train is cleared for operation.
Before commencing operations, feedback from RDSO and CMRS, as well as approval from the Railway Board, must be obtained. The 18.82 km long Yellow Line with 16 stations is expected to be operational by the end of this year. Additionally, a 3.13 km combined metro and road flyover from Ragi Gudda to Central Silk Board aims to ease congestion at Central Silk Board Junction.
