Pune Metro’s Yerawada station to open in July, Civil Court to Swargate section in August
Commuters are eagerly waiting for the opening of Yerawada Metro Station. Their wait will get over in July when the station will be opened to public after completing the remaining work.
According to officials, it was planned to be operationalized in May, but due to the model code of conduct, work on entry and exit gates was halted. However, a Maha Metro official assured that the Yerawada Metro station will be operational by the end of July this year.
The Yerawada station, part of the Vanaz to Ramwadi line (Purple Line), will be operational by the end of July. The Pune Municipal Corporation had requested the relocation of one of the station’s entrance stairs to avoid obstruction on a city road. The work is currently underway, and once completed, it is expected to further increase passenger numbers on this route.
The extended section from Ruby Hall to Ramwadi on Purpe Line includes stations such as Bund Garden, Yerawada, Kalyaninagar, and Ramwadi, spanning 5.5 kilometers.
Speaking to media, Hemant Sonawane, PRO of Pune Maha Metro, explained, “Almost all construction work has been completed, except for the entrance and exit gates. There was a delay due to some dissatisfaction among local residents and others.”
Once the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) approves, it will be operational within a few days, he added.
Besides this, on the line between Civil Court and Swargate, ninety-five percent of the work on the underground section has been completed, including intermediate stations such as Budhwar Peth and Mandai.
The underground stretch of 3.14 km from Civil Court metro station to Swargate will be operational by August.
