Pune Police Crackdown on Drunk Driving, 117 Drivers Caught Driving Under the Influence

In a special drive that took place on Saturday between 12 and 3 in the morning, the Pune police took action against 117 drunk drivers.

The drive was conducted in response to the May 19 Porsche Taycan crash in Kalyaninagar that claimed the lives of two tech workers.

“We conducted 1,409 vehicle inspections and prosecuted 117 intoxicated drivers. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Rohidas Pawar, said that Yerawada (10) and Sahakarnagar (11), had the highest percentage of drunk drivers on the road.

According to Pawar, 32 nakabandi points had been set up throughout the city to check intoxicated drivers.

The police stations have deployed one officer and four policemen, and the traffic police in the area have deployed one officer and three policemen to check vehicles.

During the drive, action was taken against 262 vehicles, and a fine of Rs 2,84,500 was collected for violating traffic norms.
