In a ghastly display of cruelty driven by shocking superstitions, a live goat was hanged upside down from a tree, leading to its death after after a harrowing week extreme misery.

A Tragic Superstition and Its Consequences

On the last Somvati Amavasya day, a chilling event took place in Kavalapur village, where, driven by misguided beliefs, a goat was left to suffer upside down tied to a lemon tree along the Tasgaon road. This act of brutality, which lasted for eight days, ended tragically as the goat died from convulsions.

Shivajirao Patil, a local of the village, witnessed the distressing scene and alerted activists from the Superstition Eradication Committee. Despite their quick response, the animal could not be saved. The shocking superstitions behind this act led to immediate action, with a complaint being lodged at the Sangli Rural Police Station.

Impact on the Community and Legal Action

The incident has not only caused a stir among the local community but also prompted a broader discussion on the persistence of such practices in modern society. Police investigations revealed that the act was premeditated, carried out by individuals who brought the goat in a car under the cover of darkness.
