Rough weather predicted for Maharashtra, many districts including Pune on yellow alert – IMD
Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed many districts in Maharashtra on yellow alert for different reasons.
Pune is expected to receive light rain and thundershowers on April 23, followed by thunderstorm, gusty winds and lightening on April 24. These weather conditions will continue for the next 3-4 days. The maximum temperature will remain around 40 degrees Celsius.
Some districts are on yellow alert for very hot and humid conditions, while others are predicted to witness thunderstorm, lightening and strong winds.
Districts on Yellow Alert for Hot and Humid Conditions
Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg
Thunderstorm and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) are likely with light rain at one or two places over the districts of South Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha.
Districts on Yellow Alert for Thunderstorms
Ahmednagar, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Parbhani, Beed, Latur, Osmanabad, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nappur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal.
Weather agencies advice taking precautions from falling debris and lightening strikes in districts with a forecast of strong winds and thunderstorms. Additionally, for people living in districts with a forecast of extremely hot and humid conditions, citizens are advised to take precautions against heatstroke.
