Pune: Tanker overturns near Khed Shivapur toll plaza, traffic disrupted

Pune Accident: A tanker has overturned near Khed Shivapur toll plaza causing a massive traffic jam on the Pune-Satara highway.
A tanker full of alcohol overturned near Khed Sivapur toll plaza in Pune early morning today, causing a massive traffic jam on the route.
The tanker is being moved aside with the help of four cranes. Alcohol from this tanker has spilled on the road. People from nearby areas have gathered there with containers to collect the spilled alcohol.
Four cranes have reached the spot to remove the big tanker. Work is underway to remove the overturned tanker. This has caused a traffic jam. This is a busy highway connecting Pune to Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur and as such the density of vehicles is very high on this highway.
The traffic has been disrupted. Queues of 10 to 12 kilometers have formed on this route. Since the tanker was carrying alcohol when it overturned, resulting in its spillage on the road, there is a fire risk also as alcohol is highly inflammable. Police are on the site, managing the crowd and efforts are on to move the tanker off the road as soon as possible.
