Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is planning to introduce a user-friendly initiative aimed at simplifying the pet license renewal process.

To make pet ownership hassle-free, the PMC had introduced the option for online registration of pet dogs and cats around one and a half years ago.

In view of its success, the civic body has now announced the commencement of online renewal services for pet licenses from next week. The move has been designed to enhance convenience and accessibility for pet lovers.

According to PMC veterinary department officials, the renewal fee for each pet will be Rs 25. The details regarding the same will be made available on the PMC website.

Earlier, the department started the online registration of pets in November 2022. Under the scheme, pet owners are required to make an upfront payment of Rs 500 for a 10-year period (Rs 50 per year).

The new renewal feature will be displayed through an additional icon on the website.

Significantly, the initiative to register pets online yielded positive results for dogs, with 3,522 dog licenses being registered. However, only 162 cat owners have secured licenses.

Following the registration, licenses are typically issued to pet owners within 20 days. Subsequently, pet owners are required to renew their licenses after the expiration date. However, this process was being carried out physically ward-wise.

Now, the civic body has decided to make the process easier by allowing pet owners to renew their licenses online.
