Pune/PCMC: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has taken action against illegally operating RMC (Ready Mix Concrete) plants within the city, which have been causing air and noise pollution. Following complaints received by the Municipal Environment Department regarding breathing difficulties experienced by citizens due to dust emissions and noise pollution from these plants, physical inspections were conducted at M/s. S.V.T.N.Construction Pvt. Ltd. Somani Towers, Plot no. 25, Gaikwad Nagar, Punavale, Pune and Aishwaryam Hamara in Chikhli.

The inspections revealed that the businesses were operating without the necessary permissions from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and the Municipal Corporation, as required by law. There is truth in the complaints made by the citizens. On April 22, 2024, under the guidance of Joint City Engineer of Environmental Engineering Department Sanjay Kulkarni, a team comprising Pradeep Mahale, Jagannath Kate, Babasaheb Dhokle, Junior Engineer Swapnil Patil, and Multipurpose worker Gorakshnath Karpe, along with MSF and Mesco jawans, visited the sites and took action.

As a result, the RMC plants at M/s.S.V.T.N.Construction Pvt Ltd. in Punawale and Aishwaryam Hamara were sealed. The municipal corporation’s environment department has stated that legal action will be taken against any businesses found operating without proper licenses, as well as those contributing to air and noise pollution within the municipal limits.
