It is noteworthy that Pune airport is not a full-fledged civil airport but a just a terminal built alongside the air force runway. As such, this arrangement worked for some time till Pune airport was catering to a small number of flights per day which were evenly spaced from each other.
However the way things are in the present, the infrastructure at Pune airport is far from being adequate, be it inside the terminal or outside the airport. The vehicles coming to pick and drop passengers have been facing a harrowing time finding a suitable parking space to wait.
Nevertheless, things are about to change with the new terminal ready and slated to open anytime soon once the necessary clearances are in place.
To accommodate additional vehicles, a new multi-level car parking has been commissioned. This multi-level car park serves as a vital enhancement in parking facilities. This initiative greatly benefits travelers at Pune airport, as it provides a convenient and organized solution for parking needs. With dedicated parking and pickup points, hotel cars spot, and access to app-based taxi services, passengers can navigate their arrivals and departures with ease.

Puneites eagerly await the commencement of operations from the new terminal, which was inaugurated some time back and is awaiting necessary clearances.
In the meantime, the demand for an entirely new dedicated civil airport has been growing. Many sites have been evaluated, however the project is yet to pick up, mostly due to hurdles in land acquisition for the new airport.
