Maharashtra Weather Update: Extreme Weather Patterns Continue Across the State From Blazing Heat to Hailstorms | Check Details

Maharashtra Weather Update

MUMBAI, Maharashtra – Recent reports from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) indicate a series of diverse and extreme weather conditions affecting various regions across Maharashtra, as residents face a mix of severe heat, stormy rains, and even hailstorms.

Severe Weather Hits Central Maharashtra Central Maharashtra and regions like Beed District have experienced dramatic weather changes. Particularly in areas like Wadwani Dharur and Ambajogai, residents witnessed rain accompanied by stormy winds. More intense conditions were observed in Wadwani Dharur and Majalgaon talukas, where hailstorms have caused considerable damage, stripping tin sheds from houses and devastating local mango crops.

High Temperatures and Humidity Persist The entire state is grappling with persistently high temperatures and humidity levels, especially in urban centers like Pune and Mumbai. Anupam Kashyapi, a weather scientist and former head of weather forecasting, IMD Pune, advises caution: “People must take precautions especially from 11am to 4pm. Avoid sitting in open spaces for meetings or gatherings during these hot midday hours. Staying hydrated is crucial to prevent heat cramps and rashes during these intensely hot days.”

Rain and Storm Alerts Maharashtra Weather Updates point towards possible rains in Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Central Maharashtra, along with continued hot and humid conditions in Mumbai. The state is set to experience untimely rains with stormy winds over the next three days. Districts in Vidarbha are under an orange alert for rain, while a yellow alert is active for many Central Maharashtra districts, including Marathwada. Thunderstorms and hail are also likely in places like Chandrapur, Gondia, and Gadchiroli.

Impacts on Mumbai and Coastal Areas The heat intensity is elevated by warm air currents from Rajasthan and Gujarat. In Mumbai and the Konkan region, where the Arabian Sea’s warmth contributes to rising humidity levels, temperatures have soared to 33 degrees Celsius at Santa Cruz. This is compounded by decreased air pressure over the Arabian and Indian Oceans, leading to higher surface water temperatures.

Residents are urged to stay updated with the latest Maharashtra Weather Update, take necessary precautions during adverse weather conditions, and remain hydrated and protected from direct sunlight.
