ISHRAE Pune Chapter Conducted Cleanliness Drive on Parvati Hill.

On the occasion of Earth Day 2024, the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) Pune Chapter orchestrated a monumental cleanliness drive atop the scenic Parvati Hill in Pune, Maharashtra.

This initiative was not merely a routine cleanup campaign but a profound statement addressing the critical issue of plastic pollution and its ramifications on our planet’s health. Under the overarching theme of “Plastic vs. Planet,” ISHRAE aimed to underscore the urgent need for collective action to combat the menace of plastic waste and its adverse impacts on the environment.

This event was organised under the leadership of Mr. Ashutosh Joshi (President ISHRAE Pune Chapter), Mr. Chetan Thakur, Mr. Subhash Kanade, Mr.Nandkishor Kotkar, Mr. Amit Gulwade, Mr. Kaustubh Wani and Ar. Deveeka Mutha.

Recognising the significance of Earth Day, ISHRAE mobilised volunteers, members, and local communities to converge upon Parvati Hill with a shared mission: to reclaim the natural splendor of the landscape and raise awareness about the perils of plastic pollution.Equipped with gloves, garbage bags, and a sense of purpose, volunteers fanned out across Parvati Hill, scouring every nook and cranny for discarded plastic waste. From plastic bottles and wrappers to straws and bags, no debris was too small to escape their vigilant eyes. As they worked tirelessly under the sweltering sun, their efforts symbolized a collective commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable living.

By mitigating plastic pollution, ISHRAE’s efforts aligned with the overarching goal of decarbonization set by Mr. Anoop Ballaney (Society President) with this year’s theme being MAARG (Margdarshak Advancement Advocacy Reform Growth), which seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit global warming. By advocating for the adoption of renewable energy sources, energy-efficient technologies, and circular economy principles, ISHRAE exemplified how addressing plastic pollution can synergistically contribute to broader climate mitigation efforts.

ISHRAE Pune Chapter inspired individuals and communities to become catalysts for change in the fight against climate change and environmental degradation. As we reflect on Earth Day 2024, let us heed the call to action and commit ourselves to preserving the beauty and vitality of our planet for generations to come.
