Bangalore Metro Timings: Early Start and Extended Service for IPL 2024 and Bidadi Half Marathon

Bangalore Metro Timings

In a move that will delight sports enthusiasts and marathon participants alike, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced significant adjustments to the Bangalore Metro timings, aimed at accommodating the influx of spectators for the IPL 2024 matches and participants of the Bidadi Half Marathon. These changes are designed to ensure smooth and hassle-free travel for the public during these high-profile events.

Early Morning Start for Bidadi Half Marathon

On the 24th of March 2024, a Sunday, the BMRCL has decided to commence its metro services at the break of dawn. Starting from 04:30 am, rather than the usual 07:00 am, trains will operate from all four terminal stations and the crucial interchange station, Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro Station – Majestic. This early start is specifically to facilitate participants heading to the Bidadi Half Marathon, located in the Bidadi Industrial area of Bengaluru, allowing them to reach the venue without the stress of morning traffic.

Extended Service for IPL 2024 Matches

Recognizing the popularity of the TATA IPL T-20 Cricket matches and the subsequent need for extended transportation hours, the BMRCL has also announced an extension of its service timings. On the 25th, 29th of March, and the 2nd of April 2024, the last train services will now depart from all terminal stations at 11:30 pm. This half-hour extension is an effort to ensure fans can enjoy the matches without worrying about their return journey.

Special Ticketing Arrangements

To further enhance the experience for IPL spectators, the BMRCL has introduced a return journey paper ticket priced at Rs. 50/-. These tickets will be available from 2:00 PM onwards on match days and are valid for a single journey from either Cubbon Park or MG Road Metro Stations to any other station. The tickets can be used from 8:00 pm until the close of the extended service. Additionally, to avoid crowding at the ticket counters, spectators are encouraged to purchase QR tickets in advance through various digital platforms, including the Namma Metro App and PayTM.

The BMRCL urges the public to take advantage of these adjustments to the Bangalore Metro timings. By planning ahead and utilizing these metro services, spectators and participants can avoid the last-minute rush and ensure a smoother travel experience. The corporation also requests the print and electronic media to spread the word about these changes, ensuring that the general public and metro commuters are well informed.
